Gunfire Strikes House of Popular Streamer Dr Disrespect (Report)

Popular Twitch streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm says someone fired a gun at his home during a broadcast on Tuesday, according to PC Gamer.

Beahm and his family are OK. A message on his official Twitch page now says “proper measures are being taken while the stream is down for the day.”

He was playing the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” Blackout beta when the shooting reportedly happened. After hearing a loud noise off-camera, Beahm goes to investigate. He returns moments later without his trademark wig and sunglasses and says someone shot at his home for the second time in the last two days.

“I’ve got to end the broadcast right now, someone shot at our house,” he says. “Broke the f***ing upstairs window. This is the second shot, someone shot yesterday, at our f***ing house and someone shot again right now, connected with the house, upstairs.”

PC Gamer contacted local authorities and confirmed a deputy was dispatched to Beahm’s home, as did a reporter from Polygon.

Update: Local authorities tell me that a deputy was dispatched to the house of someone who matches Dr. DisRespect’s desc. More information is coming. No medics were called. This was the second call in two days, according to local authorities.

*won’t be naming where that is.

This is not the first time a Twitch or YouTube streamer was victimized by an alleged attack while broadcasting. “Swatting” — the practice of phoning in a fake threat to law enforcement in an attempt to send armed police officers to a person’s home — is unfortunately a common hazard of the job. Beahm himself was apparently swatted back in March.

YouTube celebrity couple Gavin Free and Meg Turney were also reportedly targeted in a home invasion last February. During that incident, the alleged gunman broke into the couple’s home and fired at least one gunshot with the intention of killing Free.
